"Cooking is an expression of who we are."

What happens when a man once consumed by addiction gets sober and fights for the rare third Michelin star? The 2015 film Burnt explores this journey through the character of Chef Adam Jones, played by Bradley Cooper.
The movie begins following Jones on his conquest to mend relationships and rebuild his reputation which is now destroyed. Along the way, he reconnects with previous co-workers, while simultaneously building up a team of excellent, talented cooks who help him attempt to achieve his goals. Bradley Cooper’s portrayal of Adam Jones was quite good, capturing the complexity of the human brain; showing both the desperation of a man and the arrogance that once led him to lose everything. While Chef Jones encounters setbacks, his constant support from his team pushes him to continue his pursuit of greatness.
The unexpected betrayal added a compelling twist to the film, enhancing its entertainment value and deepening the plot. While the ending wasn’t shallow or unsatisfying, it failed to truly stand out—perfectly capturing what Burnt is: entertaining cinema, but not transformative.
